Lady Duneed, Caulfield South
Originally built in 1919 and previously owned by an artist, this old Federation beauty was almost derelict when sold — and most would’ve demolished and started again.
When we first walked through, there was a lot to take in: multi-coloured rooms, lowered door heights, mismatched period features and significant deterioration… but there was just so much beauty in the wreckage — so much potential to unlock and life to be given back to this old Dame.
This project was extensive in scope, with an evolving brief and a growing family to accommodate, so we completed the work in two carefully planned stages.
-
Unveiling and reviving the home’s original charm, while planning a seamless floorplan for the future extension.
Reinstating period features
Raising door heights
Rethinking the landscape and façade
Honouring the home’s Federation character and unveiling its true potential
-
Creating a distinct delineation between old and new — both in finish and aesthetic — while allowing the soft, warm palette to flow through and connect interior spaces. This stage maximises functionality, celebrates light, orientation and outlook, and establishes effortless family living and entertaining.
